Open Yappio

Copyright and takedown requests

Yappio respects other people's work and expects the same of its users. This page explains how to report content on Yappio or on its website that you believe infringes your copyright, and what happens next.

Our own content

The Yappio software, the text, design and code of this website belong to the operator unless stated otherwise. The Yappio logo and name are covered on the brand page. People and messages shown in the previews on the website are made up for illustration.

Reporting an infringement

If you believe something on Yappio infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright notice". Please include:

  • your name and a way to contact you,
  • a description of the work you say has been infringed, and where it can be seen,
  • the exact location of the content you want removed, such as a link to the message or the server and channel it is in,
  • a statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not allowed by the copyright owner, its agent or the law,
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner,
  • your signature, which can be your typed name.

What we do

We look at each notice that is complete. If it is valid, we remove or disable the content promptly and tell the person who posted it, where we can. We may ask you for more detail if something is unclear. We do not charge for handling a notice.

Sending a notice that you know is false can have legal consequences, so please make sure it is accurate.

Replying to a notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address with the subject line "Counter notice". Say what was removed and where it was, explain why you believe it was removed by mistake or that you have the right to use it, give your name and contact details, and state that you agree to the jurisdiction of the courts of the United States. We may restore the content after a reasonable time unless the person who made the original notice tells us they have taken legal action.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright can be suspended or closed.
