Chat and screen share tools for creators
Creators spend a lot of time showing work and answering their audience. Yappio is planned to give a small community a calm home, with a screen share studio that keeps the output tidy and the private parts private.
Yappio is in development and has not been released. Everything here describes what is planned. Last updated .
A community home that is not a feed
A creator's community needs a front page with announcements, upcoming sessions and a gallery of what members made. The server homepage is built for that, and the For you inbox keeps direct replies from drowning in general chatter.
The screen share studio
For live sessions the studio provides a small set of tools:
- Scenes such as Starting soon, Main and Be right back.
- Text overlays with placeholders, including {viewers}.
- A webcam layer placed on the canvas.
- Blur boxes to hide a notification corner or an inbox.
Behind-the-scenes voice notes
A short voice note can answer a member's question without a long typed reply, and the transcript helps those who prefer to read. Notes live inside the conversation, so they stay findable.
What this is not
Yappio is not a broadcasting platform that replaces a streaming service, and it makes no claims about audience size or growth. It is a place for a community to talk, and a lightweight way to share a screen with that community.
A small, calm audience
The design suits creators who want a place for a few dozen or a few hundred people who care, not a channel to broadcast to millions. In that setting a homepage can introduce the work, a room can host a casual session, and the For you list keeps direct messages from getting buried.
Voice notes help here as well. A creator can answer a question in thirty seconds of speech instead of three paragraphs, and the transcript means the answer is searchable by everyone else who wondered the same thing.
What to expect from the studio
The screen share studio is the part most relevant to creators. It aims at tidy output without extra software: a scene, an overlay with your name, and a way to cover anything private. It is not a full production suite, and we are not planning to compete with the tools people already use for recording or streaming.
It is still a plan. If you make things and would like to tell us how you would use it, write to [email protected].
Working with an audience that is not on the app
Not everyone who follows your work will join a chat app, and that is fine. A calm space works best as the place for the people who want to talk, while your usual channels carry the announcements. Keep the homepage short, say what the space is for, and be clear about how often you will be there. People are more patient with a creator who says that replies come on Sundays than with one who is silently absent. Nothing in the plans assumes growth, and the design does not rank or promote communities.
Money and sponsorship
Yappio has no paid plans, no creator payouts and no advertising, and none is planned on this site. If that changes, the terms will say so before anything is charged. Creators who rely on income from their community should keep their existing arrangements and treat Yappio as a place to talk, not as a business platform.
